2nd Saturday Summer Series: Traditional Tunes at Twilight

Mark your calendars to join the Town as we host the 2nd Saturday Summer Series from 6pm-8pm in Weaverville’s Main Street Nature Park from June-September 2019. You can access the Park from Pine Street or park in the municipal parking lot off Main Street and enter the park from the stairs there.

Kare Strong and The Chase Sisters will share the stage from 6-8 p.m. at Traditional Tunes at Twilight, in Weaverville’s Main Street Nature Park on Saturday, July 13, 2019.

Kare Strong is a singer/songwriter who makes “simple, loving music in the treasured old styles from plainer times”, according to Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner Tom Paxton.  She has released two CDs in conjunction with Grammy Award winner Josh Goforth, and her lyrical and poetic music from these albums is written with the whole family in mind, and the songs are about friendship, generosity, goodwill, innocence, and most of all, love.

Lillian Chase is a 15-year old native of Weaverville, and she will be joined onstage by her 13-year old sister, Sara Nell Chase.  The Chase Sisters play harmony fiddle, a mixture of the old-time and bluegrass music that is historic to these mountains, and they interweave instrumentation with sweet harmony vocals and ballads.  Lillian played at Merlefest in 2018, and her concert on the Song of the Mountains stage in Marion, VA, will air later this year on PBS stations nationwide.
