Dottie Sherrill was first elected to the Weaverville Town Council in 1989 and has served consecutive terms since that date. She was served under the following respected Mayors: Reese Lasher, Larry Sprinkle, Bett Stroud and Al Root.
A retired teacher and counselor from Asheville City Schools and Buncombe County Schools, Dottie grew up in the Weaverville area and her father, Dr. Jeter Bradley, practiced medicine on Main Street in Weaverville. A graduate of Western Carolina University, her early years of teaching were in Waynesville. She only left the Western North Carolina area for Greenville, South Carolina for a short period to serve as principal of a middle school. She has always been active in community functions as well as with the Weaverville United Methodist Church.
Dottie has a BS in Mathematics and Physical Education, MA in Mathematics and Counseling, and ED.D in Counseling and Curriculum.
In her retirement Dottie has many interests and enjoys different crafts ranging from card making, crocheting, bridge, and gardening. Dottie and her husband Dwight Sherrill live in Kyfields and have two daughters (Lynne lives in Kyfields and Leslie in Jackson, Tennessee) along with four grandchildren.
