A Memorial Day Observance will be held at Lake Louise Park in Weaverville at Noon on Monday May 27. The guest speaker will be Ron Davis, Weaverville Chief of Police. Prior to his 30 years in law enforcement, Ron was a paratrooper in the U. S. Army. He spent 3 years on active duty and had tours of duty in the Sinai Peninsula with the 82nd Airborne Division, completing his service as a Sergeant. Later he was a civilian police advisor attached to any Army Military Police unit in Mosul, Iraq and was also a police advisor in Herat, Afghanistan. The program will also include the North Buncombe High School Navy Junior ROTC, the Weaverville Police Department Rifle Squad, the Weaverville Fire Department playing taps, and Howard Dusenbery on the bagpipe.
