SUMMARY:Garden Club
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, May 12\, at 11:30 a.m. \nLocation: Weaverville Community Center Albert Weaver Room \n(60 Lakeshore Drive) \n  \nFor our May meeting\, Garden Club of Weaverville members will participate in our annual spring plant and seed exchange. \n  \nBut for those who aren’t members\, this meeting is a great opportunity to visit us\, see what we’re all about\, and even join our vibrant gardener community. To participate in the plant and seed exchange\, feel free to register as a member in person on the day of meeting or simply fill out the membership form (available at https://gardenclubofweaverville.org) ahead of time and send it in to us. And for anyone wishing to bring plants or seeds to the swap\, please see the following guidelines: \n  \nThe swap will take place on the Weaverville Community Center covered patio after a brief business meeting inside. Please bring garden plants or houseplants\, seeds\, or gardening items you would like to share to the patio prior to the 11:30 a.m. meeting start time. There will be signs on the patio indicating where to place your plants for Sun\, Shade/Part Shade\, House/Indoor\, etc. And please go around the outside of the building to deliver your plants. \nAnd if you don’t have any plants to bring\, do not despair – come anyway and take something special home with you. \nPlease mark each plant with as much of the below information as you can. If you bring several of the same plants\, we ask that you write this information on an index card\, place it near the plants\, and then just label each individual plant with the following: \n1. Plant Name: Label plants with botanical or common names or both. If a cultivar\, try to include the name of the variety (ex: Echinacea ‘Tomato Soup’). \n2. Size and Color: Indicate how tall the plants can get and the color of the bloom. \n3. Native or Non-Native (if known): Indicate which applies. And please don’t share plants that are on the Western NC Invasive Plant List or on any invasive list. \n4. Your Name: Please include your name so that folks will know whom to ask if they have questions and\, of course\, whom to thank. \n*Also\, please note that if any of the plants you offer are not claimed\, you should take them back home with you. \nFor more information on our organization\, feel free to visit our website at https://gardenclubofweaverville.org/.

SUMMARY:Life is an Improv
DESCRIPTION:Improv isn’t just about performing — it’s about how we move through everyday life. Every day asks us to respond\, adapt\, listen\, and make choices without a script\, whether we’re navigating relationships\, work\, or unexpected change. \nImprov builds confidence in uncertainty\, teaches us to stay present\, and reminds us that we don’t have to have all the answers to show up fully. \nBy practicing flexibility\, curiosity\, and the simple power of saying “yes\, and\,” we strengthen skills that help us communicate better\, handle stress\, and meet life as it unfolds — one moment at a time. \n

SUMMARY:Your Yoga
DESCRIPTION:Your Yoga is offered Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 am. The practice is led by Wendy Lantis\, E-RYT\, who has been teaching for 20+ years. This light-hearted\, accessible practice is open to everyone. Modifications are offered to make the practice fit your own individual needs each time you come to the mat. Please bring your own yoga mat and a small blanket to sit on and use under your knees. A few blankets and blocks available\, but always a good idea to bring any props you may need to make your practice more comfortable. Please introduce yourself upon arrival and fill out a waiver before setting up for class. Please refrain from wearing fragrances and put your cell phone on silent if you must bring it in. \nYour Yoga is open to all. Children are welcome if they have a regular practice and can participate without distraction to other practitioners. \nWendy was first introduced to yoga by a family friend when she was a young girl and has found the practice to be an essential part of her life. She finds tremendous joy in sharing this practice with others and helping them recognize the beauty of our breath and mindful movement\, with some giggles and smiles thrown in for good measure. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Functional Mobility Yoga (Seated)
DESCRIPTION:Martie Schoener will be leading Functional Mobility Yoga a seated yoga for all ages and abilities. \nFunctional mobility yoga focuses on improving the body’s ability to move efficiently and effectively in daily life\, rather than just increasing flexibility. It emphasizes strengthening muscles that support joints and engaging core muscles to improve stability and coordination. This approach is valuable because it helps prevent injuries by building strength around vulnerable areas and promotes better posture and movement patterns.  \n
