SUMMARY:Garden Club
DESCRIPTION:We hope you will join \nThe Garden Club of Weaverville \nfor our June 2026 Meeting \nTuesday\, June 9\, at 11:30 a.m. \nLocation: Weaverville Community Center Albert Weaver Room \n(60 Lakeshore Drive) \nMarshall Native Gardens and Creating Native Habitats \nPlease join us as we welcome Christopher Mello\, head of Native Gardens Educational Programming at Marshall Native Gardens (located at the Marshall Public Library)\, as he provides an overview of the gardens and suggests ways to encourage beneficial insects\, attract desired wildlife\, and manage garden pests in our own gardens. Marshall Native Gardens comprises 4.2 acres of native plant demonstration gardens and community educational gardens. The planning and work on the gardens\, begun over 10 years ago\, required first removing invasive plants and then replacing them with native species. And the gardens now have walking paths\, aesthetic fencing\, deck seating areas\, and themed gardens—all to allow visitors to observe and learn to identify native plants in a variety of growing environments. \nChristopher\, a local naturalist\, artist\, and Asheville native\, has spent most of his adult life working in various areas of horticulture\, including as a nurseryman and floral designer at Biltmore and as a garden restorer at the locally famous gardens by Lake Kenilworth\, which were originally designed and planted by Doan Ogden and later redesigned—with Christopher’s assistance—by John Cram. Christopher is also a welder\, and he works in both metal sculpture and in ceramic art—primarily designed for or inspired by the plants and gardens he has grown and loved since he was a child. \nAll are welcome to attend. Feel free to bring your own lunch\, snack\, or beverages to enjoy immediately following the program\, if you’d like. The business meeting will begin soon thereafter. For more information\, feel free to visit our website at https://gardenclubofweaverville.org/.

SUMMARY:Functional Mobility Yoga (Seated)
DESCRIPTION:Martie Schoener will be leading Functional Mobility Yoga a seated yoga for all ages and abilities. \nFunctional mobility yoga focuses on improving the body’s ability to move efficiently and effectively in daily life\, rather than just increasing flexibility. It emphasizes strengthening muscles that support joints and engaging core muscles to improve stability and coordination. This approach is valuable because it helps prevent injuries by building strength around vulnerable areas and promotes better posture and movement patterns.  \n
