WATER

  • The Water Treatment Plant is currently working, and still processing through some challenges. Continue to conserve and boil your water. Restoration efforts continue on the southern end of Town after a water line break at Reems Creek. We are aiming for everyone in the service area to have water by Friday.
  • If you have an auto-scheduled bank draft for your water bill. Those will process Friday Oct 11th. Please contact Town Hall if you want to make changes.
  • If you received a pink notice in the mail – those notices were mailed Sep 23. Water will not be shut off. A grace period will be extended.
  • The potable water container will continue to be available at the Community Center.
  • Water distribution continues at North Windy Ridge School. Bring your own water containers.

TRASH AND DEBRIS COLLECTION

  • Town trash collection resumed today.
  • The Town will pick up both trash and recycling bins this week due to contamination. Loose cardboard will not be picked up this week – Curbie service will pick that up when they resume next week.
  • Public Works continues with debris cleanup and road clearing.
  • Yard debris must be in a loose pile or a brown bag to be picked up. No other container will be picked up.
  • Loose leaf collection will not begin next week. If you begin raking leaves, please keep sidewalks, storm drains, and streets clear.

SAFETY

  • Please lock your cars at night and when unattended.
  • There is no enforced Weaverville curfew, please don’t drive at night if you don’t have to.

TOWN ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS

  • Town Hall and the Community Center will open at 10am Tuesday Oct 8th.
  • The Community Center will be open Mon – Fri 8:30am – 5:00pm for phone charging and wifi access. The free Town of Weaverville internet network (no password) is restored and available at the Community Center.  Use caution on unsecured networks.
  • All Community Programs are cancelled through October and will resume Nov 6th. Please use the Community Center as an informal meeting space.

OTHER INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

  • County briefings have changed to once daily at 11am. Tune in at AM 570, FM 88.1, or online.
  • Duke Energy continues to work to repair lines. We’ve not received any timeline from them.
  • If you’re planning to seek FEMA reimbursement; take pictures, document, and track everything. To register for assistance, visit Disasterassistance.gov or call 1.800.621.3362.
  • The October 14th Board of Adjustment Meeting and the October 15th Town Council Workshop have both been cancelled.
