Meet our Fire Chief
Ted Williams, Fire Chief
Fire Chief Ted Williams, a life-long resident of Weaverville, has served in the fire service the majority of his life. Since starting his career with the Weaverville Fire Department in 1992 as a volunteer and then having the opportunity to have it become his career when he was hired by the town in 1996. Chief Williams progressed through the ranks and in
2006, while serving as a captain with the department, was hired by the Leicester Fire Department to serve as their Fire Chief. Chief Williams served the citizens of Leicester for 7 years as chief when he was given the honor of “coming back home” in 2013 to once again serve his hometown citizens as Deputy Fire Chief. He served in that capacity, until the retirement of Chief Terry Malone in 2016, when he was named by Town Manager Selena Coffey as the new Chief. Chief Williams is a dedicated member of the fire service within Buncombe County and our state. He is a very proud husband and father to his three sons and enjoys golfing.
