Town Hall and all offices are closed in observance of Memorial Day.
Weaverville’s annual observation of Memorial Day will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 25th at the Community Center overlooking Lake Louise.
Guest speaker is US Army Sergeant First Class (retired) Donald Funderud who served in active duty from 1971-73, and in the US Army Reserves for 20 years. Instrumental in establishing the new Basic Instructor Training Course, Sgt Funderud was selected as Soldier of the Year for the 108th Division. As an active and diverse volunteer in our region, Donald received the Governor’s award for the NC State Volunteer of the Year for civic duties serving in the US Forest Service, NC Wildlife Resource Commission, WNC Muskie Club, National Kids Fishing & Special Needs Children’s Fishing Day.
The invocation and benediction will be provided by Rev. Lou Grant of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The Asheville Senior Chorus will lead the singing of the National Anthem along with a patriotic song medley. The program includes a moving video of the ‘rifle salute’ by the Weaverville Police Department Squad and taps by the Weaverville Fire Department. Amazing Grace will be performed live on bagpipes by Howard Dusenbury.

We invite you to join us as we pay tribute to our fallen men and women who have bravely served and protected our country.
