Veterans Day Holiday

Veterans Day Holiday, Town Hall and Offices are closed.

The Weaverville Patriotic Committee and the Town of Weaverville will hold its annual Veterans Day Observance on Monday, November 11th at 11 a.m. in the Community Center at Lake Louise. Our Veterans will be honored with the ceremony, including our guest speaker, and a patriotic music salute.

The featured guest speaker is retired Brigadier General Edward P. Donnelly, following 40 years of service as an American soldier. General Donnelly moved to Asheville in 2017, where he lives with his best friend and spouse, retired Lt. General Kathleen Gainey. General Donnelly served in armor and mechanized infantry units in the Operational Army while stationed in the United States and Germany and while deployed in combat or peace supported operations in the Middle East, Somalia, Caribbean, Balkans, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Since retirement, Ede currently teaches and works with SROTC programs at East Tennessee State University, Wofford College, and Furman University. A graduate of the US Military Academy, with a BA in National Security & Public Affairs, Retired General Donnelly also holds a Masters Degree from Webster University, US Army Command and General Staff College. He holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Suffolk University School of Law and has been admitted to practice Law in 7 States and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Music will be provided by the Reuter Center Singers, Pastor Skip Gillikin of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville to offer the Invocation and Benediction. Taps and Rifle Salute will be performed and executed by the Weaverville Fire and Police Departments, respectively, and Amazing Grace performed by Howard Dusenbery on the bagpipes.

All are welcome. Parking is accessible behind and below the Community Center and there is overflow parking at the Public Works lot on Quarry Road.
