Weaverville’s Recreation Department consists of 1 full-time and 1 part-time employee, these folks are responsible for overseeing the use and operations of the Community Center and the Lake Louise Recreation Complex. Our Recreation Coordinator also supports and plans Town sponsored Events, including Memorial programs, the Holiday Parade, the July 4th celebration, and two annual Concert Series. This Department works closely with the Town’s Finance Department, Administration, Public Works, and Police Department.
Located at 120 Merrimon Avenue, covering approximately 15.5 acres.
The park features Lake Louise itself, playground facilities, outdoor exercise equipment, picnic shelters, a newly constructed Community Center, a 0.61 mile walking track, grills, a historic waterwheel, fishing opportunities, and a new recreation complex above the Community Center.
Picnic shelters at the Lake cannot be rented or reserved, and are available first come, first serve. The Community Center is available for rent, more information is available here.
The Recreation Complex above Lake Louise features a half basketball court and four pickleball courts.
Those who have a State fishing license purchased from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission may fish in Lake Louise. A fishing permit from the Town of Weaverville is no longer required.
Phase 1 of the Lake Louise Recreation Complex opened February 3rd, 2024. This first phase of completion is one half basketball court and four pickleball courts. The courts are currently paved and striped – they will be coated and painted later in 2024.
Cornhole boards and bean bags are also available.

Phase 2 will include a picnic shelter and bathrooms.

All Courts close on Wednesdays at 1pm to allow for parking and space provided to the Farmer’s Market. This timeframe is subject to change.
The Town of Weaverville offers free Beginner Clinics on the last Saturday of each month, March to October.

Signups are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, and required to participate these clinics. Clinics are taught by certified instructors and limited to 20 people. The electronic signup form for each clinic will be posted one month before each event, notifications will be shared on the Town website and social channels.
Located behind Town Hall, this 10-acre park runs parallel to Main Street from Town Hall to Pine Street. There is a small parking area for the park on Pine Street.
This park allows for passive recreation such as walking, running, bird watching, picnics, photography and nature viewing. Leashed dogs are permitted on the walking trail. The park is a demonstration facility for creating natural habitats for flora and fauna.
In 2019 the Town established the Second Saturday Summer Concert Series, which happens at the newly constructed stage found in the meadow within the park. The concerts are outdoors, and weather permitting. Neighbors are invited to bring chairs, picnics, and friends to enjoy an evening of music from local and regional musicians under the summer sky. Concerts start at 6pm.

The Recreation Division of the Public Works Department is responsible for maintenance of all parks, equipment and facilities. The Town has adopted a number of rules and regulations to help keep our parks in good condition and ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time.
