Weaverville will hold its annual Veterans Day Observance on Friday, November 10 at 11 a.m. in the Community Center at Lake Louise. This year our Veterans will be honored with our ceremony and a patriotic music salute.
The featured guest speaker is Lieutenant Colonel David Thorneloe who serves as an attorney with the North Carolina Army National Guard Deputy Staff’s Judge Advocate. Previously Lieutenant Colonel Thorneloe served twenty years in the U.S. Army where his duties included active duty with the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan and as a peacekeeper in Sinai, Egypt. He has been an assistant United States Attorney in Asheville since 2009.
The music will be provided by well-known Weaverville residents, Howard and Kirsten Dusenbery. Reverend Willis Gains, Pastor of Brittains Cove Presbyterian Church will offer the Invocation and Benediction. Taps and Rifle Salute will be performed and executed by the Weaverville Fire and Police Departments, respectively.
