Updates and Information for October 3, 2024

WATER

  • Our Water Treatment Plant is back up and running.
  • Boil advisory is in effect until further notice. Water must come to a rolling boil for at least one full minute before consuming.
  • Boil advisory does not apply to bathing/showering.
  • If your power comes on before your water, turn off your water heater to avoid damaging the heating elements.
  • Water distribution is happening at North Windy Ridge Intermediate School. Bring your own water containers.

FOOD AND GAS

  • Water and pantry items will be available for pickup on Friday, October 4 at the Weaverville Community Center, 60 Lakeshore Drive. 10am – 2pm. This will be the final day of distribution at this location.
  • Wal-Mart is establishing a drive-thru relief center, offering hot meals, water, and ice, beginning at 12pm Friday October 4. It will run 11am – 4pm Saturday and Sunday October 5 and 6.
  • Lunch is being provided at the Baptist Church on Main Street.

INFORMATION AND RESOURCES

  • Town garbage collection and Curbie recycling are set to resume Monday.
  • The Landfill is open, you are welcome to transport garbage there. Saturday hours are 8am – 1pm. There will be extended hours next week. Stay tuned for that information.
  • WastePro (trash collection for residents of Buncombe County, not Town residents) will resume their routes through roads that are accessible by big trucks on Friday. Two dumpsters will be available – one at the Ingles on Weaver Blvd and one at the Ingles at New Stock exit on Friday from 8am – 4pm. This is household trash only.
  • If you’re planning to seek FEMA reimbursement; register at take pictures, document, and track everything. To register for assistance, visit Disasterassistance.gov or call 1.800.621.3362.
  • There is a mobile ATM at PNC on Weaver Blvd.
  • T-Mobile has established an area for wifi and phone charging behind Tractor Supply.
