Updates to our Annual December Parade, Happening December 2nd, 2023

Due to community feedback, a continuous evaluation of safety needs, and new State laws around parade operations – The Town of Weaverville is making some significant changes to our 2023 Holiday Parade. The Town of Weaverville is becoming an increasingly diverse place to live and work, and we want all of our community members to feel comfortable at this Town-sponsored celebration of the holiday season, thus the reason for the change of the name to Holiday Parade. We are not discouraging anyone from expressing their personal beliefs and feel that there is room for everyone to celebrate the season in their own ways!

In addition, we have also moved the start-time to 11am at the request of the community and Main Street businesses. The parade will travel a shorter route this year with slightly different start and endpoints, and in response to new NC State Law; attendance at a mandatory safety meeting is required for every parade entry. The safety meetings will take place November 13th and 15th from 6pm – 7pm. We are so grateful to be able to make these changes and preserve this beloved tradition, while also doing our best to keep everyone safe.

To secure your spot in the Holiday parade, the online application can be found here: https://www.jotform.com/form/231074953089159. The application covers one driver and vehicle and requires a $20 registration fee. This $20 fee goes directly to the Weaverville Cops for Kids 2023 Fund. The application will close on October 31st, or when we have 75 entries. Application questions can be directed to Sarah Myers, Recreation Coordinator, (828)658-5816 or [email protected].

Please plan to join us Saturday, December 2nd to kick off the holidays. The parade will begin at 11am, from the SECU parking lot on N. Main Street.  Looking forward to seeing you there!
