Community Center Manager / Recreation Coordinator

The Town of Weaverville, North Carolina is in search of a full-time qualified professional to fill the position of Community Center Manager / Recreation Coordinator.

COMPENSATION

Annual salary hiring range: $50,686 – $63,358 dependent on education and experience.

HOURS AND SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position with most work occurring Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with assigned weekend and evening hours.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports to the Town Manager and is responsible for the management and operations of the Weaverville Community Center at Dottie Sherrill Knoll, coordination and oversight of Town recreation activities and Town special events. The position will be responsible for:

• Maintaining the reservation system for all Community Center facility usage, including weddings, parties, community programming, Town events, nonprofit meetings, and more.
• Managing the Community Programming at the Community Center and the Lake Louise Outdoor Recreation Complex. This included supporting the staffing, strategy, operations, communications, and sustainability of the community programs and engagement.
• Coordinating across Departments to plan and execute Town special events, including the July 4th celebration, annual holiday parade, and monthly concerts in the Nature Park from June – September.
• Supervising and supporting the Recreation Assistant, Facilities Staff, and on-call coverage staff.
• Providing guest service and customer support in person and via phone and email, acting as a resource and subject matter expert.
• Assisting with special projects as directed by Town Manager.

The work schedule will be flexible based on the activities for which this position is responsible. There may be significant evening and weekend hours, depending on events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Recreation, Management, Communications, Community Engagement, Education or a related field plus 3 – 5 years of experience working in community organizations, facility management, or project management. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires a background screening, pre-employment drug screen, possession of a valid drivers’ license, and successful candidate must be able to maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. Compensation: This position has a competitive salary, which is dependent on the candidate qualifications, and the Town offers an excellent benefits package.
